These are melodic and creative tunes which undoubtedly will stand the test of time. I think it can fairly be said that what Donald MacLeod did for bagpipe music in the second half of the 20th century, Lincoln Hilton is crafting in the first half of the 21st century. Enjoy!

About the composer

At age 11, Lincoln was given a practice chanter for his birthday and his life changed forever. Ceòl Beag Volume 1 is a collected works of Lincoln's first decade of piping music.

Lincoln Hilton's Ceal Beag Volume 1 is epic! His original compositions and arrangements are vast and cover all the bases and more. I can honestly say this pipe music book is one every piper should have in their collection. The tunes are highly original, extremely good fun to play, and every page turn results in yet more peaked interest! Lincoln is a testament to pushing the boundaries of what our instrument can do. I'm always very keen to see what new content he has uploaded and thoroughly enjoy listening to his material — what a way to wrap up his first decade of piping in such a monstrous format.

I first met Lincoln at the Lorient Festival, Brittany, in 2017, which for me was a real pleasure, to get to know him both as a person and as a piper. Having spent some time reviewing this new publication I find it well laid out, informative and quite unique in its presentation. Topping that however is the quality of the compositions and arrangements which are outstanding. I have known Lincoln since he was very young and watched him develop his musical and writing skills over the years. In a very short time he has amassed a significant portfolio of compositions which others may not achieve in their lifetime. One of the stand out features of this book is the number of ready arrangements with harmonies. This will be of great use to bands who do not have an arranger within their ranks but wish to add something exciting to the concert repertoire.
